The Price of our Conveniences

Description

Taken from the Appalachian Trail, there's an entrance about ten minutes from my apartment building.

I wouldn't have been able to get here if it weren't for that road, but at the same time it's sad that a highway should run along such a beautiful mountainside. It's the price we pay for convenience. It's a terrible thing, yet it's also a thing people need to connect them-selves with far away people and places. Without our roads, cars, and cities we might not get as far in life as we could with them. I might not have ever found my place without them, yet they scar the precious surface of the planet. It's the price we pay for progress.

I love this picture.
I really do.
I love the AT and seeing this view of the Highway from it really blows my mind.
It looks almost vertical, you know? Like, if those trees weren't there, it almost looks like you were falling whan you took this photo.
This is an instant Fav. I know that for sure. Thank you for poting this. =)
